Herzog and de Meuron, the Swiss architects behind Beijing's famous Olympic stadium, have created something truly spectacular at 56 Leonard. These apartments and penthouses in Tribeca are some of our favorite in all of New York City.
The building itself is nothing short of iconic, a breathtaking, Jenga-esque tower that adds something completely new and different to the skyline without creating any sort of disruption. It doesn't hurt that Anish Kapur's sculpture at the base confers an artistic credibility that is possibly unmatched anywhere else in New York.
Kudos to the design team, and congratulations to whomever gets to call this new icon home. It is selling quickly to those lucky elite. Sweeping views not only of downtown but the entire NYC landscape and beyond...
